Incorporated in December 1988, Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd produces cameras, optical lenses and optical components. It started production of lenses in November, 1989. And, in June, 1990, it started to manufacture penta prisms and cameras. ISO 9002

Canon Electronics Malaysia (CEM) was established on December 1, 1989 and is 00 percent owned by Canon Electronics Inc. (Japan). It has two factories operating in Malaysia, one in Prai, Penang and the other in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. CEM manufactures 4 Channels Auto Reverse magnetic heads for car stereos, magnetic heads for APS cameras, shutter units for cameras and iris galvanometers for VTR cameras, among the many products that are being manufactured in Malaysia. These products are then shipped worldwide to its international customers, among them are Philips/Clarion (Japan), Clarion (Taiwan), Clarion (Singapore), Clarion (HK), Matsushita Denki, Matsushita Tsuko, Sony, Kodak, Mitsubishi Electric, Pioneer, Minolta, Fuji, Kyocera, Canon Opto, Canon Taiwan and Canon Zhuhai. Canon Machinery (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as NEC Machinery) was established in 1996 with a paid up capital of RM11 Million. With staff strength of approximately 100, its main business includes manufacturing and sales of semiconductor and factory automation machinery and parts thereof (eg. Die Bonder & others).
